April 2015 the Okefenokee Osceola Longleaf Implementation Team, the Southern Fire Exchange, Osceola National Forest, Florida Forest Service, and others hosted a workshop and field tour for landowners and land managers near Lake City, Florida. The morning workshop included a wide variety of presentations related to longleaf pine flatwoods management and restoration. Most of the presentations are linked for download below.
In the afternoon the field tour visited a mechanical fuel treatment and prescribed fire demonstration hosted by the Osceola National Forest. Following several presentations and discussions the field tour continued to a private property near Sanderson, Florida. On the private property the landowner shared his extensive experience in pine flatwoods restoration and multiple-use management.
