SUMMARY:Mitigation Best Practices Training
DESCRIPTION:This national level training from Coalitions & Collaboratives\, Inc. and the USDA Forest Service is designed for current or future mitigation specialists\, wildfire program leads\, and others who work with residents and their communities to reduce wildfire risk. The Mitigation Best Practices training concentrates on science\, methods and tools that will help you engage communities/residents while also helping you to eliminate ineffective practices. \nParticipants should come with a basic understanding of wildfire\, how homes burn\, and vegetation management practices. The course assumes you know how to mitigate\, but that you could use support engaging your community. In this workshop\, you will work through some of the greatest challenges facing our wildland urban interface communities. The course will help you break down ineffective practices to make space for the more effective ones with a focus on the on-the-ground mitigation activities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAPPLY FOR TRAINING HERE. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nParticipation in the course is limited to individuals actively engaged in mitigation. Selection to participate in the training will be based on your answers provided and on submission date. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou may view and download the 2021 class syllabus\nHERE.

SUMMARY:Hybrid S-130/S-190/L-180: Basic Wildland Firefighter
DESCRIPTION:The intent of this course is to train new firefighters in basic firefighting skills. It is often required for participation in prescribed burning activities. Participants who complete all course requirements will receive federally-recognized NWCG certificates for S-130\, S-190\, and L-180. \n**This training is presented in a hybrid format. Participants must complete 40 hours of training total\, including online material via Canvas and attending an in-person field day in order to earn NWCG certificates for S-130\, S-190\, L-180.** \nRegister for the course here.

SUMMARY:Virtual S-131 Firefighter Type I
DESCRIPTION:*Presented in a 100% virtual format via Canvas and Zoom* \nAll participants MUST have wildland fire experience including having been on a minimum of 3 burns before taking this training and must have evidence of having completed S-130/190 (Basic Wildland Firefighter training) prior to this course.  \nRegister for the course here. \nThis is a National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) training course designed for individuals with wildland fire experience who are currently qualified as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2)\, and who desire to be qualified as a Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) or Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) in the National Interagency Incident Management System: Wildland Fire Qualification System Guide (PMS 310-1). \nThis course will explore fireline reference materials\, communications\, tactical decision making\, position responsibilities\, and operational leadership. \n*Note: S-133 is no longer offered; material previously covered in that course is now covered during the S-131 course.
