Wildland Fire Investigations Training
July 20, 2020 - July 24, 2020
Course Description: The Wildland Fire Investigations course is based on the recently developed certification standards and training programs for wildland fire investigators put in place by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG). This program culminates in a six hour practical exercise where students work as a team to investigate and document a wildland fire case. Teams will determine the fire origin, collect evidence, conduct interviews, and document the case. Wildland fires result in tremendous devastation of public resources and private property. The increasing frequency of these types of fires has brought on a need for additional, specially trained fire investigators.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of the National Fire Academy NWCG S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (Q0901-S190) course prior to attendance. This course can be found at the following link: NFA NWCG S-190 Intro to Wildland Fire Behavior.
