New SFE RxFire Hotspot Webinar Summary

Don’t have time to watch a 40-minute webinar recording? The new Southern Fire Exchange (SFE) webinar research summary (pdf) developed by Christian Fernandez, SFE Outreach Specialist with Tall Timbers Research Station, synthesizes the research shared by Karen Cummins on her May 2024 webinar exploring the Southeast Prescribed Fire Permit Database.  The database uses prescribed fire permit data collected by states to understand trends in prescribed fire across the region. Due to challenges in prescribed fire mapping using satellite methods, the prescribed fire permit database project has allowed the Tall Timbers team to look at temporal and spatial trends in prescribed fire use across the entire southeast.

For more information about the project, watch the webinar recording, check out their full research publication, or explore their interactive “Community of Fire” ArcGIS StoryMap.

Thanks to Karen Cummins, Christian Fernandez, Brian Wiebler, and David Godwin for their support in developing this webinar summary.
