Megan presented her research on the anticipated and modeled impacts of climate change on wildfire, prescribed fire, and smoke (PM2.5) in the southeastern US. Her research suggests that opportunities for prescribed fire will likely change, and or be compressed, due to changes in climate. Changes in prescribed fire windows in the region, along with increases in the number of wildfires, will likely result in elevated PM2.5 levels for many areas of the southeastern US.
